Smartland Energy submitted a redevelopment bid for the Muskingum River Plant site in Washington County, Ohio. The project evaluation and proposal were part of Smartland's ongoing initiative to repurpose strategic legacy energy infrastructure for modern, behind-the-meter use.
After a thorough review process, the South East Ohio Port Authority - the site's owner - selected an alternate proposal based primarily on its potential to deliver a significantly larger number of permanent jobs to the region.
Smartland Energy continues to explore redevelopment opportunities across the Midwest that support long-term energy resilience and economic growth. The Muskingum bid was one of multiple Ohio site evaluations active in our pipeline; we continue to engage on adjacent sites in the PJM footprint where existing transmission interconnection, water access, and brownfield permitting precedent align with the dedicated-megawatt requirements of large industrial and data-center buyers.
